media center build - 2009/12/10 16:35 Well i finally threw my wallet at the problem and got the media center built and running.

I will throw up some pics when take them off the phone and find a nice host for them.

Some of the hardware got a bit dated as i did it over a fair bit of time. but here's the specs (ram will be replaced as will the gf card) have to run the gfcard in the second pci-e slot. too long to fint in the the primary - either loose the hdd sata connnections for 2 hdds or keep them and push the gfcard down some slots.

motherboard - P5Q3 Deluxe 1.311 dkk
GF Card - Asus EAH3650 Silent 510 dkk
5 hdds - WD 3.5" 1TB
'Caviar GP' SATA-300 7200rpm 2.645 dkk
(bought 5 of them 4 in raid 10 and 1 ready to replace a failed drive)
CPU -
Intel Core2Duo E8500 / 3.16 GHz 1.218 dkk
CPU cooler - Scythe Zipang 1000 363 dkk
2 x Noctua 80x80 case fans 302 dkk
PSU - CoolmasterSilent 700W 865 dkk
Case - X-Case RM 404 Short4u 700 dkk

So as you can see i have spent about 7900 dkk on it. so i think it will stay as it is for a while. next is the iphone/or ipod touch that i will use as a remote.

Lyder da fedt, og grfx kortet kan vel sagtens trække det du skal se på den!(porno kræver ikke så meget

media center build - 2010/01/13 16:34 the boxes and all that stuff (not including the 4 hdds)

Then we got the lot assembled outside the case, drive bay with 4 hdds (1 TB each running in RAID 10)

Everything assembeled into the case (apart from the drives - that long metal frame that holds them goes at the top, over the ram blocks, and is a tight fit to say the least.

And here we have it set up, and hooked up to the TV. sitting on the bottom shelf.

And the last image, is how it looks with the cabinet door closed. dont need line of sight to run it. using WiFi and iphone to control it and if keyboard needed am using the logitech dinovo mini and that's bluetooth
